The Youth Craftsman program consists of 4 programs ... to be known as Platforms. These will involve both craftsmanship as well as service to the hobby.

After the successful completion of each, a certificate of recognition will be awarded. When the entire four programs are achieved, or "the member has successfully arrived on all platforms", a YCRC, or "Youth Canadian Railway Craftsman" certificate, will be awarded to the member in recognition of outstanding achievement in the hobby of model railroading.

Contact the CRC Manager for the documentation for each "Platform" or go into the "Members" area to view "Platforms" where the documents can be downloaded as a pdf.

The four Platform certificates are:

Earned by giving 20 hours as a volunteer or by promoting the hobby through activities such as; school projects; layout tours; modular operations at shows; hospital visits; cable TV shows; etc
Earned by showing that they are aware of how model railways can be operated in a prototypical manner.
Earned by constructing 1 detailed kitbuilt locomotive, 2 kitbuilt detailed freight cars, 1 kitbuilt detailed passenger cars and 1 kitbuilt detailed structure. Earned by constructing a fully detailed operating layout or module complete with a model railway scene of at least 8 sq ft in HO or equally sized areas in other scales.
